We are recruiting volunteer field workers

Frivillig feltarbeider på vei til aktiviteter i moria flyktningleir på Lesvos, Hellas

As governments are now easing restrictions previously imposed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, A Drop in the Ocean (DiH) intensifies its ongoing efforts to support displaced people living in refugee camps in Greece.

To strengthen our teams on the ground and to help us expand our vital services for camp residents, we are now recruiting volunteers who can commit for at least four weeks.

All international field workers, regardless of their country of departure, will have to quarantine for a week before starting their assignment.

As a volunteer field worker for A Drop in the Ocean, you can help cover needs of people forced to flee living in Greece. We work directly inside the refugee camps, run by Greek authorities. Our main work tasks are to distribute food, clothes and other items. We are also involved in planning and organising different activities for children and adults in the camps.

DiH is present on the island of Lesvos, Samos and in Northern Greece and the Athens area. We are currently recruiting field workers to Skaramagas, Nea Kavala, and Lesvos.

In Athens, we work directly inside the refugee camp Skaramagas organising activities at our Drop Centre, a community centre that has become an active meeting space in the heart of the camp. Among other activities, we have a space where teenagers can interact in a safe environment, be creative and laugh. We have English lessons for adults, and a sewing room that has become an important meeting space for women.

In Northern Greece, we work inside Nea Kavala Refugee Camp where we have our Drop Centre in the middle of the camp. Here residents can join our computer classes, Greek lessons and sports activities such as football and volleyball training.

On Lesvos, we are mainly working inside Moria Refugee Camp organising recreational activities such as board games and outdoor activities for unaccompanied minors. We also have a football team for adult camp residents.
