Thousands of refugees might be heading towards Greece 

A Drop in the Ocean is deeply concerned with reports stating that a large number of refugees are on their way from Turkey to Europe. This will strongly affect Greece and the Greek islands, who are already struggling with an overload of people living in refugee camps.

A place to relax and learn in Nea Kavala

Some play chess, others do different forms of handicrafts, work out or learn Greek. At our new Drop Centre in the refugee camp Nea Kavala we arrange different activities for every age. The centre, renovated by our volunteer field workers and camp residents, are now filled with laughter and good conversations.

Temporarily closed activities, Moria Village, Lesbos

The tense situation on Lesbos has developed in a way,  that makes it difficult for A Drop in the Ocean to continue our activities in Moria Village, for the time being. However, our activities inside Moria Refugee camp will continue as usual.

Refugees demonstrates against new asylum law 

On Monday, February 3, a group of Moria refugeecamp protesters were met with tear gas by Greek police forces. While some local politicians are calling for government action to better safeguard the refugees, others show less understanding of the refugees’ situation and the relief efforts being made by A Drop in the Ocean, among others.

Preventive work with unaccompanied minors in Moria refugee camp

More than 5000 children and approximately 1100 unaccompanied minors are currently living in Moria refugee camp on Lesvos. They carry traumas from a life as a refugee. Additionally, many of the refugees have experienced acts of violence, or witnessed others being victim to it. They liver under horrifying and undignified conditions in the refugee camp. A Drop in the Ocean works inside the refugee camp, as the only Norwegian organisation. We contribute daily to provide activities for children aged 0 to 17.
