A Drop in the Ocean acknowledge that many people worry about the coronavirus in Greece and how it affects the people who live in the refugee camps. This is a particularly vulnerable group and transmission of the virus in the refugee camps will have uncontrollable consequences.

Unfortunately, the environment we work in is very unpredictable, so due to concerns of COVID-19, we have decided to follow the advice of the Greek authorities to temporarily stop most of our activities at all our locations. We will re-assess the situation in two weeks’ time.
Conserning coronavirus and volunteer applications
In light of recent developments relating to COVID-19, we have decided that we will not process applications for the time being. This is because the situation is constantly changing, and we must do all in our power to prevent further transmission of the virus.

In light of recent events we have decided to temporarily stop all our activities on Lesvos due to security concerns. During the past weekend, the situation on the island escalated and there were reports about NGOs being attacked.
