Together we are stronger!

”Dråpen i Havet” is a NGO based on collaboration on all levels. More than 2200 volunteers have travelled to Greece with us the last 15 months. Moreover, the administrative part is based mostly on volunteering as well. We have only 1,5 remunerated employees and we do not pay any office rent or warehouse in our hub in Norway. We are approved by the Norwegian Control Committee for Fundraising, which gives our donators the best warrantee that their contribution is being used for the purpose.

Help us! We are cold!

Lately the cold has come to Northern Greece. Last night residents in the camp made a big fire to stay warm. They burnt old tents, clothes and anything else they could find. We need 1100 pairs of winter boots for adults and 400 pairs for children in this area. And it`s urgent. Kids still walk around in their sandals. Can you help?

The days are floating into weeks and months in slow motion. With the time passing by, the hope of a better life evaporates into the sky.

Recently Al jazeera made a visit to Chios and the camp Souda where A drop in the Ocean volunteers contribute with distribution of food three times a day. This reportage gives a good impression of how conditions in the camp are right now, and the interview with our Syrian friend Wassim Omar says a lot about the hopeless situation for the residents. Every day is a new day without answers, without dignity and without plans for tomorrow. He explains it, like many others in the same situation, “everyday you die many times”.
