Our co-operation with the Greek Council for Refugees (GCR)

A Drop in the Ocean is very happy to have inaugurated its co-operation with the Greek Council for Refugees (GCR) regarding the support of legal aid for asylum seekers on Lesvos.

A Drop in the Ocean has contributed financially  to the Greek Council for Refugee’s Emergency Fund, which assists the most vulnerable beneficiaries and asylum seekers on Lesvos, including women traveling alone, single-headed families, people with disabilities or chronic diseases as well as children, and unaccompanied and separated minors.

This fund covers the most urgent and pressing needs mostly related to COVID-19 pandemic but also their increasing need for legal aid, ensuring their access to asylum procedures, denouncing unlawful practices, violence, and abuse and advocating for their rights.

Since 1989, GCR has supported more than 141.000 refugees and asylum seekers, providing free legal aid and psycho-social support on a daily basis. GCR’s mission is that all people who are entitled to international protection in Greece are protected and can rebuild their lives in Greece.

We are pleased to contribute a little drop to this mission and enhance the much needed legal aid services on Lesvos.
