On the 13th of November A Drop in the Ocean’s sister organization was launched in the US. Two previous volunteers, Laura Femia and Kim Proal along with A Drop in the Ocean’s Secretary General are the founders of the sister organization. After working in the middle of the ongoing refugee crisis in Greece both the American women strongly wished to shine a light and increase awareness of the conditions for refugees on the American continent.

I have not even prepared a thank you speech, I never thought it would be me. I’m very happy, but this is not just my award, there are so many who have dropped everything they had in their hands and helped establish this new Norwegian NGO. I also hope that the price can help to focus on women on the run. Turid Lilleheie: New Chairperson in A Drop in the Ocean

Drop-in Centre for asylum seekers who have been given relocation to Norway to open in Athens
A Drop in the Ocean has since 2015 contributed with humanitarian assistance among refugees in Greece. The organisation will now open a Drop-in Centre with pre-integration activities for asylum seekers who have been given relocation to Norway. At the Centre, the asylum seekers will get an opportunity to learn their first words in Norwegian and get a taste of Norwegian culture.
The Drop App
During the last one and a half years A Drop in the Ocean has sent approximately 3,000 volunteers from 35 countries to Greece to aid refugees. In this sea of volunteers we have an inexhaustible source of experiences and skills that daily improves our organization and how we work. Recently, two volunteers created The Drop App, an app that has revolutionized the way we organize warehousing and distribution in the refugee camp Nea Kavala.
